The manufacturing secrets of   Sam's straps

Enter the workshop and discover what makes a Sam's straps a strap like no other!

After having cut the shape of the strap, moisten the leather and trace the outline of the design.

With a knife to open, a swivel , we open the lines of the design by incising the leather.

Once all the lines are open, we sculpt the leather in the air of beveler of different shapes and sizes that we use with a mallet to strike the leather and give relief. We then prepare the marks for the seams and after allowing the leather to air dry for a long time, it is "tanned" with organic olive oil.

Once the leather has become dry again, with a small fine brush, we apply a layer of dye around  patterns to increase the contrast, this is a very delicate step.

Once again, let the leather dry, then apply 1 to 2 coats of reserve for the patina.

Once the product is dry, a patina is applied with a sponge which will blacken the marks of the embossing to give it contrast and depth. Depending on the desired result, one or more colors will be used in one or more layers. Then let it dry for at least 1 night and then apply several coats of protector to seal the color and waterproof the leather. We will finish with a layer of house polish with beeswax, then we will go to sewing.

The seams are made only by hand with beeswax waxed linen thread, the saddle stitch is used for strong seams that stand the test of time and intensive use.

We assemble the buckles and the numbered leather labels then we polish the whole with a brush and a sheepskin.

All you have to do is place the strap in its pretty cotton pouch and it is ready to go on stage with you and accompany you throughout your musical wanderings and for a long time.
